Re. Surf Radio 102.5 Hua Hin...great station BUT:
You focus on the Hua Hin area...IN THAILAND! Is it too much to ask that your presenters, advertisers, and announcers show some respect for the local language and at least make an effort to use the correct pronunciations of Thai words.
Typically in your broadcasts the only Thai words mentioned are the names of local place names i.e. Hua Hin and Cha Am. That's just 4 words...yet you manage to mispronounce all of them wrongly every time with varying degrees of abonimation!
Listening to the way those few words are pronounced by your broadcasters is painfull. Not once have I heard those words pronounces correctly.
The characters used for spelling Hua Hin and Cha Am in English are a transliteration from the original Thai characters designed to convey the pronunciation of the original word in a different script, allowing readers or speakers of that script to approximate the sounds and pronunciation of the original word. Transliterations should not change the pronunciation of the original words. However, because Thai language is tonal, and emphasis is put on different syllables compared to English, it is difficult to correctly achieve that. That is why the transliterations into English should simply be a guide to the original pronunciations and a little more effort is required to speak the original pronunciation correctly.
For example.

Hua Hin is NOT Hwah Hin!
Cha Am is NOT Char Am!

I enjoy listening to the broadcasts but I have yet to hear anyone make the effort to pronounce those few words correctly...usually I just switch off. Surely you have Thai staff in your offices from whom you can seek advice on the correct pronunciations. At least make an effort.
